Why should I have a Trade Card?

Quite simply it has been designed to make purchasing easier. You’ll have less paperwork and longer to pay for your hire.

The instant benefits are:

Is the Tradecard a credit card?

No. There is NO INTEREST with the Brandon Tradecard. It’s your own store card - a payment card which you clear every 65 days.

You have longer to pay and more credit available and what’s more we make it easier for you to pay with direct debit.

If I pay by direct debit don’t I lose control?

No. You are in control. You are sent a statement at least a month before your payment is collected which allows you to check and double check that it is right.

You are also protected by the direct debit guarantee which means should a genuine mistake ever be made your bank will instantly refund you. You don’t have that protection now.

Why does this mean better control for my business?

The system is very flexible. It’s your choice, the way you want to run your Tradecard account. For example, we can provide you with cards for a specific member of staff, with credit limit of, say £50 per day.

We can provide a card that is specific to one site or project. We can provide a card which can only be used for certain products.

The Tradecard means that you empower your staff but don’t give up the control you need over your people and what they’re buying on your behalf.

What happens if I’m charged incorrectly?

Of course we hope it won’t happen. But if it does call us and we will refund your account immediately. It really is worth remembering that the Direct Debit Guarantee means that you are fully protected at all times.

If you have any queries the individual items are held separately until you are happy for payment to be collected. It is all part of the improved service to make trading with us easier for you.

Can I get extended credit?

Well we have already extended the terms of credit for you to upto 65 days. However should you have won a large order and need more credit or have problems paying please call your Tradecard Customer Service Team on 0800 092 0277 and they will talk to you about your individual circumstances.

If you don’t call them they can’t help you.

Can we have more than one card?

Of course you can! If you want more than one card, for several members of staff, we can arrange this. Simply call us.

Which Trade Card is best for me?

There are three different types of Trade Cards available. Any combination of the three is available to you and your staff. Additional or replacement cards can be issued when your business requires.

  • Named Card.

    This is exactly the same as the cards you will have in your own wallet. You simply need to inform us of the member of staff it is to be issued to and it will be sent to your company with their name embossed on one line and your company name on the line underneath.
  • Purchase Order Required Card.

    If your company operates a PO system and requires your staff to give Brandon a PO at the time of purchase this card is ideal for you. It allows you to instill a further level of financial discipline into the purchasing processing, prompting your staff and the Brandon Branch staff that a PO is required. You can’t have a more relevant and timely reminder than Purchase Order Required and your company name embossed on a Trade Card which is seen at the time of sale and required to be authorized before the sales transaction is performed.
  • Bearer Card.

    This is ideal as a site card for emergency or infrequent use. As it is not specific to a named individual it can be given to any member of staff. The words Bearer Card and your company name are embossed on the card.

What happens if I lose the Tradecard?

As with all plastic it needs to be looked after carefully, but if you report it lost or stolen we can put a stop on it immediately. What’s more, if we notice that it appears to be being used in an irregular way, we will alert you.

If a member of your staff has left and you want to prevent them using the card exposing you to a financial loss - call us.

Is there a charge for the card?

No. It’s free. There are no monthly or annual charges now, or planned for the future. We just want it to be easier for you to trade with us than our competitors.

Do I have to maintain a specific level of spend?

No. It’s entirely up to you how much you use the Tradecard account.

Can other people use my Tradecard?

Anyone can use a Bearer Card. Your individual card is just that - yours. It is makes sense that you arrange for all your staff that need tradecards to have them.

Is there a credit limit?

Yes. We’ll set a generous credit limit on your account - as much or more than you enjoy on your existing standard account.

You can set individual credit limits for your staff by the day, week or month - just one way we help you control your financial expenditure.

Will you review my credit limit?

Yes. As you are paying by direct debit should you ever request more credit we will look at your request favourably. Your credit limit will be reviewed as a matter of course over time - just as with all cards.

What about my trade discounts?

If your existing standard account qualifies you for specific discounts, the same terms will be transferred to your Tradecard account. As simply as that.

Does my statement show continuation hires?

Yes. This allows you to more effectively manage your business.

I already have a credit account can I have a tradecard as well?

You can have either one or the other. The Tradecard will replace your existing account - you will still get the same discounts. The Tradecard will make is easier and more convenient as well as giving you longer to pay.

I’ve seen other “tradecards” in the hire industry. How is this one different?

At the moment the Brandon Tradecard is unique as it is a genuine account card, linked in real time with accounting systems. It provides great flexibility and credit - and security - for you while keeping you in control of expenditure.

Typically, other tradecards provide very restricted benefits for cash customers, and are just a sales promotion device. By contrast, you can use the Brandon Tradecard as a genuine account card and a valuable management tool.
