Dust Control
The figures for dust related health problems following exposure at work are pretty shocking:
- 39,000 people suffered from work related breathing or lung problems in 2008/09*
- An estimated 4,000 people a year die from work related chronic obstructive pulmonary disease*
- Around 4,000 people a year die from asbestos related diseases*
Potentially harmful dust includes all airborne particles. Much of it is invisible to the naked eye, and so all the more dangerous. Dust is created by a huge range of power tools, and dust control should be a key focus.
It’s important that all employees and employers understand the risks associated with dust inhalation, and take stringent measures to protect themselves. Doing so can significantly reduce risks and save lives.
We keep up to speed on all the issues. Any products we hire out that need the operator to wear a face mask are highlighted in this catalogue with a safety symbol, and masks are available from all Brandon Hire branches.
We can offer expert advice about the best equipment to use for your particular site, such as specialist dust extraction vacuums and tool cowlings, which capture pollutants and create dust-free work environments.
